Dear Christian Radio,

Smart people always ask, “Why?” There are already some very smart people on board for the #ENCW Project, but maybe you aren’t quite with them just yet. It could be you’re still asking “why” about #ENCW. If so, this post is for you.

Life is hard, and it is unfair.  Let’s just get that out of the way.  When we say, “Easy Never Changed the World,” we don’t mean to imply that you or the Christian radio industry has it easy; neither does…not by a long shot. From increased competition, a soft market for advertising and underwriting sales, a lack of on-air talent, and all the way to a tough fundraising climate, there are challenges for Christian radio at every turn these days. But that doesn’t mean we aren’t called to do hard things. Jesus said so in John 14:12…

“Very truly I tell you, whoever believes in me will do the works I have been doing, and they will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father.” (NIV)

All around us, there are “greater works” to be done. There are people still living their whole lives without knowing the Gospel because the Bible has yet to be translated into their language. There are children dying from parasite-laden water, even when a cheap and simple pill is available to save them. Right here in America there are families living on the streets. There is an opioid addiction crisis. And when there are tornadoes, floods, hurricanes and fires, there are people who need help.

We live in a broken world. Jesus has called us to fix it, through the power of the Holy Spirit living in us. He never said it would be easy, just read a little further in the Gospel of John, Chapter 16, verse 33…

“I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world, you will have trouble.
But take heart! I have overcome the world.”

Why #ENCW? We choose the #ENCW Way because Jesus has called us to do hard things in His name. Also, because the basic tenor of scripture is that we should do them together. Your efforts to feed the hungry, help the homeless, and share the Gospel are powerful.  But when those efforts are united with the efforts of others, they can change the world.

We’re out to impact one billion lives in five years, together.  Not so that PAR or even the Christian radio industry gets the credit, but so that Jesus Christ is honored and His Gospel is advanced.

Dear Christian Radio…

…every year we gather at Momentum to hear great speakers, we attend amazing training sessions, and we leave inspired. In the hallways, during breaks at the back of the room, and while walking through theme parks, the conversations almost always include discussions about how great it would be if we all could find ways to help each other more…to work together.

The big “why” of the #ENCW Project is just that—Christian radio coming together in response to the call of scripture to do something for our world; and to show what can be done through God’s power in us, together.  We can do this. We will do this. Are you ready to change the world?

#ENCW–
